Reminder:
Anyone facing lay-off  must  get a withdrawal card from the Union Hall.  You  must  get the withdrawal card in the month in which your dues are current.

PREBIDS:
Make the time to go to the Union seniority office to check on any prebids/off job cards you have on file!  Don't wait until you are awarded a job you no longer want.
And while you are there, ask about any possible job openings or movement due to the people retiring by May 1.  Openings may occur in jobs you are qualified for, or that you still have time to become qualified for.  So
ASK
!
Remember:  you are responsible for your prebids, off job cards, and shift preference cards.  Don't blame anyone else if you don't get a job award you
THOUGHT
you prebid, or if you get an award to a job you FORGOT you prebid!
Ask Karen and Woody for help.  They are your union seniority specialists, and are there to help you.

KEEP IN TOUCH
Continue to touch base with the Union seniority office and the Union Hall even if you are on lay-off.  They can keep you apprised of any movement in the workforce.  These are the numbers to call:
Union seniority office   432-7972
Union Hall    463-0774 or 463-4003

SHIFT OPTION CARDS
Please Note:  When you submit a shift option card, whatever option you choose follows you wherever you go.  If you have an option card in for the shift you are currently on, but you get bumped (or called back) to another shift anyway, you must go to the seniority office to change your option choice.  Failure to do so might result in being held onto a shift you don't want to be on if you are bumped again!  See Mike and Karen in the Union Seniority office for more information.

OFF-JOB CARDS
If you are cut back or bumped out of your occupational grouping, you are off-job from that job code.  However, if you are cutback / bumped from your job, but bump
within
your occupational code (or if you receive a job award to another job code), you are NOT off-job.  Example:

          1.  You are cutback / bumped from a 5105, and you bump into a 1406.  You
ARE
off-job from the 5105.

          2.  You are cutback / bumped from a 5105, and you bump to a 5106.  You are
NOT
off-job from the 5100 occupational group, because you bumped within it.

          3.  You are a 5105, but receive a job award to a 2705.  You are NOT off-job from the 5105, because you elected to leave that job code for another.

Submitting an off-job card to a general occupational group (such as 1406, 0506)
does not
give you 'preference' to any job in that group.  General occupation code jobs are filled in seniority order:  that is, the most senior bidder will receive this job.  Only in job codes that are not general occupation group will the off-job card take preference over a bidder not in the occupational group.  For clarification, see Mike and Karen in the Union seniority office.
