Sisters and Brothers,
There is not much new to report. But as I walk through the plants on a daily basis, I am reassured that the rumor mill is alive and well. I know it is difficult not to get caught up in the rumors, but we must stay focused on the issues at hand, one of which is to pro-duce a good UNION-made product. Your negotiating committee is working dilligently on our proposals for the upcoming negotiations. As I have stated before, they will be very difficult. But, I firmly believe that if we stay united we will come out with a fair and equitable agreement for both sides. We have some very experienced people at the table for the Union and we also have some first timers, but let me reassure you that each and every one of them are focused and committed to the task before us. And again -- I cannot emphasize this enough -- we MUST remain UNITED in this cause. Please make it a priority to attend the STRIKE VOTE meeting at the Pepsi International Pavillion NYS Fairgrounds on SUNDAY OCTOBER 19, 2003 1pm - 4pm At this meeting you will hear an update on the negotiations and, more importantly, you will be asked to give your negotiating committee the clout they need to negotiate a fair agreement. This Strike vote does not mean that we will be going on STRIKE; it means that you give the commit-tee the right to call a STRIKE if we do not reach agree-ment. In any event, before there is a STRIKE, there will have to be a VOTE OF THE MEMBERSHIP meeting to accept or reject the Labor Agreement on SUNDAY NOVEMBER 2, 2003
Stay United and speak with ONE VOICE!
REMEMBER: THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR DISCUSSION AND DISAGREEMENT, BUT THERE SHOULD NEVER BE ROOM FOR DIVISION
