Paycheck Problems?
Carrier management has instructed the Benefits Specialists of Local 527 that the employees' immediate supervisors should handle all paycheck problems.
While we will comply with this directive, we have also informed the company that the following information will be posted here to assist our members:
After reporting your problem to your supervisor, please allow an appropriate amount of time for the error to be corrected.
If the error is not corrected accurately or in a timely manner, we suggest you contact the New York State Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, and submit a complaint. The link below will take you to the list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's):
An example of a specific question: Q: How can employees obtain assistance in collecting monies unlawfully deducted from their wages?
A: Employees who have had monies unlawfully withheld from their wages, or who have been forced to reimburse their employer for cash shortages, breakage, spoilage, may obtain assistance in collecting these sums by contacting their nearest Labor Standards Office. ( You will find a link to the list of NYSDOL District Offices )
HOW TO REPORT COMPLAINTS This link will take you to the form you can print out to report your complaint of a paycheck error (including unauthorized/illegal deductions):
Fill out the form as required, and submit it to your nearest NYSDOL District Office. To help the state investigators, also include the steps and time you have taken trying to get the error corrected.
If you prefer, you may file your complaint by faxing the form. Since you may need your phone line to do that, this page is in a printable format.
